Dipl. LM-Chem. Martina Klemm advises small and medium-sized companies as well as major international corporations in all areas of intellectual property protection. Her technical fields include general and analytical chemistry, pharmaceuticals, life science, food and natural products chemistry. With her experience in developing individual IP strategies as well as in managing large worldwide IP portfolios, Martina offers our clients from Germany and abroad comprehensive expertise in protecting their international activities through patents, SPCs and utility models as well as trademarks and designs.

Martina Klemm
Dipl. LM-Chem. Martina Klemm studied food chemistry at the Institute for Biochemistry and Food Chemistry at Hamburg University. She completed her studies in 2001 with a degree in food chemistry.
She was awarded with the Innovation Prize of Union Deutsche Lebensmittelwerke 2001 for her thesis in environmental analytical chemistry.
In 2002, she passed the Second State Examination in Food Chemistry in Hamburg and graduated as a State certified food chemist.
Martina has been working in the field of Intellectual Property since 2002.
She worked as the Head of the Patents and Intellectual Property Department of a medium-sized company active in the development and production of cosmetic, tissue engineering and medical products.
In 2008, Martina joined GILLE HRABAL and was admitted as representative before the European Patent Office in 2010.
In addition to her studies in general law for patent attorneys, Martina completed part of her training as a patent attorney at the 2nd Civil Senate for Patent Litigation at the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf under the presiding judge Dr. Thomas Kühnen, as well as at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in Munich.
In 2013, Martina was admitted to practice as a German patent attorney and as a representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
In 2015, she obtained the diploma on European patent litigation (“D.U. Contentieux des Brevets en Europe”) at the University of Strasbourg with regards to the Unitary Patent System.
Martina represents and advises national and international companies in all areas of intellectual and industrial property protection including patents, utility models, trademarks and designs as well as in the field of German employee invention law. A particular focus of Martina’s practice is on the management of large, worldwide patent portfolios and on developing comprehensive national and international intellectual property strategies.
Martina’s practice includes prosecution and opposition proceedings before the German and European Patent Offices, coordination and support of international examination proceedings, filing of SPCs and preparation of infringement and validity opinions as well as due diligence. In addition, Martina advises our clients in the field of parallel imports, in particular of pharmaceuticals.
Martina has special experience and expertise in the field of German employee invention law and advises inventors and companies in this field.
In addition to her own regular participation in various further training courses in the field of patent law, trademark law and procedural law, Martina also lectures about IP topics and conducts seminars and workshops for our clients.
