Dr. Peter Roos advises clients from Germany and abroad mainly in the fields of patents, utility models and SPCs. His areas of practice also include trademarks and designs. His technical areas of expertise include chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, life science, polymer chemistry and technical chemistry. A particular focus of his practice is the handling of national and international patent litigation, opposition, nullity and appeal proceedings. Peter works for small and medium-sized companies in Europe as well as globally operating corporations.

Peter Roos obtained his diploma in Chemistry at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technical University of Aachen in Germany in 1987.

In 1990, he completed his doctorate in organometallic chemistry. His thesis deals with “Cyclopentadienyl coordination compounds of niobium”. Special areas of study included inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, technical chemistry, physical chemistry and macromolecular chemistry as well.

He began his training at GILLE HRABAL. He continued his training at the German Patent Office, the Federal Patent Court and The District Court in Munich.

After passing the German patent attorney’s examination in 1993, he worked for GILLE HRABAL as an associate.

In 1994, he was admitted as a patent attorney in Germany.

In 1995 he was admitted to practice before the European Patent Office.

In 1997, he started working in the patent and licensing department of a leading German pharmaceutical-chemical company. In his position, he was responsible for the world-wide protection of pharmaceuticals. In addition, he was responsible for the education of employees in the area of patent and licensing law.

In 2000, he returned to GILLE HRABAL to become a Partner.

Peter represents German and international clients in all areas of IP law specializing in the protection of inventions in the field of pharmaceuticals, polymers, petrochemicals, catalysts,  inorganic and organic chemicals, industrial materials and coatings as well as the enforcement of IP rights.

He is married and has two daughters.
