Dr. Helga Neidlein’s practice focuses on patent matters and supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemistry, materials sciences, life sciences and related areas. She has large experience in drafting patent applications and conducting opposition and nullity proceedings as well as in enforcing patents against infringers. Her areas of practice also include trademark and design matters. Helga advises small and medium-sized companies as well as large corporations from Germany and abroad.

Helga Neidlein

Dr. Helga Neidlein has been working in the field of IP since 1992.

She studied chemistry with the focus on organic and technical chemistry as well as pharmacology/toxicology at the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany, and was a doctorate student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

After completing her doctorate in 1992, she jointed GILLE HRABAL to undergo the training to become a patent attorney including training sections at the German Patent and Trademark Office as well as at the Federal Patent Court, She was admitted as a German and European patent attorney in 1995. After leading her own small law firm in Dusseldorf for several years, she returned to GILLE HRABAL and became a partner in 1999.

Helga represents domestic and International clients in patent prosecution and oppositions in all areas of chemistry and materials sciences as well as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Her particular experience covers pharmaceuticals from small molecules and proteins to antibodies, as well as cutting tools, ceramics, exhaust gas catalysts, non-aqueous electrolytes, polymers, and adhesives.

She has many years of experience in legal opinions regarding validity and patent infringement, in particular in the field of pharmaceuticals. Another focus of Helga is preparing protective letters and their deposition at the district courts.

Helga is married and has two grown-up sons.
